Fashion Police: AFRIMMA Awards 2016

Hi MK Readers,
Hope you all are having an amazing week. As you all know last weekend was the African Music Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) held in Dallas on the 15th of October and for the very first time, I was opportune to attend an event as a blogger. It was very well organized and I was happy that most of the nominees were able to make it for the show. Artists like Daphne, Stanley Enow, Locko, Dancer Brenda Dery and their managers were all present. Some of the nominees such as Franko, Charlotte Dipanda, Reniss and Mr Adrenaline did not make it for reasons best known to them. The event was fun with Stanley Enow and Locko opening the show, awards presented by Magasco and a number of African celebs, great performance from artists like Sauti sol, Kcee, Kaffy Dance Group, Bovi, Flavour and a host of others. Unfortunately I was late for the red carpet, So i was only able to take pictures of the artists/ celebs after the show. I also took pictures of Cameroonians who slayed at the event.

Fashion Police - Urban Jamz Awards 2016

Hi MKB Readers,
How have you all been doing? The weather has been getting warmer here and I couldn't be happier. As some of you might know, last weekend was the Urban Jamz Awards held in Buea. I was blessed to watch it stress free on Kreef Entertainment's snap-chat (If you aren't following them, please do. They provide a front stage view of concerts, tours and events and 24 hours Q & As with Cameroon artists, entertainers and celebs). I must say the organizers of the show did a great job, probably the best Cameroon award show I have watched, but of course there is always room for improvement. However, this post is about the red carpet outfits, they were hmmm, Let's take a look abeg. Just thinking aloud - Was there a dress code for this event? because all man be jo di wear anything way e want. Most of the celebs dressed very casual, so I presume, the dress code was Casual chic.

Actress Syndy Emade:  She always looks stunning and this outfit was no different. Love the all black theme, crop top, pants and her over the shoulder coat gives me life. However I wish she wore a different shoe style. One of my favs for sure.

Songs Of the Week

Hey lovely people,

HAPPY NEW YEAR, 2016. I still can't believe how fast 2015 flew by. I know it has been a while since I blogged and honestly I missed you all. I don't want to go into all the long juicy details of why I have been away for this long but as the year goes on you will find out #promise. It should be no news that 2015 was a crazy year for Cameroon music. So many new artists got their voices heard and got us dancing to a lot of new banging tunes. The music industry has improved in leaps and bounds since I started blogging 2 years ago and I couldn't be more proud. Today, I want to share 7 of my favorite Kamer songs right now. Hope you love them as much as I do and don't forget to drop a comment.

Locko - Ndutu:

Locko is a soulful Afropop artist who broke into the music scene last year with his hit single Margo which was on everyone's lips for months and months. It is one of my favorite Kamer songs of all time (Don't let me go into explaining all the reasons why I love that song).  *takes a deep breathe* Anyway, let me talk about the song at hand. In Ndutu, Locko expresses his love for Kamer ladies and just like Margo his lyrics is a prefect blend of English, French and Pidgin. The Lyrics, Vocals, Video concept and Beats makes this song a hit ( at least in my book).

FASHION POLICE: Canal 2'Or Red Carpet

Hey lovely readers,
I know you all have been anxiously waiting for this post, and quite frankly I couldn't wait to do it. The first time I did a post like this, I was almost torn apart but I have a job to do and I have a right to my opinions and so do you. To be honest, the fashion/ style of our artists, actors infact 'celebs' has improved enormously from when I did my first fashion police post, I couldn't be more proud. Our celebs are gradually understanding the importance of branding and representing themselves in public. The turn out is better, fashion is coming together and there are more pictures from events on social media ( hoping for better quality pics in the future tho). The Canal 2OR awards was on Saturday 28th February, it was full of entertainment personalities from the young to the old and of course our lovely first lady was present and here is my opinion of some of the artists present (those whose pictures I could find).

Songs of the Week

Hey guys,
I know it's been ages since i did a songs of the week post, and honestly the title of this post should be songs of the month or rather the year because there have been a lot of ground breaking Cameroonian songs released this year.To say the Cameroon Music Industry has taken a 180 turn is an understatement. I couldn't be more proud of our artists both male and female you all make us really proud. Here are some of the songs that have caught my attention this far. Some of the songs might be old to you, or rather you must have already seen them but I am just putting up all the songs I have liked since my last song of the week post. I will also be explaining why i like the songs and what i think can be improved. Just so we are clear, these songs are not in a particular order. It's NOT a ranking !!!

Stanley Enow - Tumbuboss

Of course you guys knew this was going to be the first song I mention. Hahaha don't hate!! I don't know why people keep comparing this song to Hein Pere. It is a great song on its own, it has its own hype, style and message. I absolutely love the quality of the video, lyrics is great " Perika You must to Calculate..." lol that's my best line, the style and ambiance are topnotch. My only problem with the video is, I couldn't get the story ( i don't know if there was meant to be one) there was too much going on. But Hey it's STANLEY ENOW!!! aka Hein Pere! what can I say? He is the BOSS.

ALTF's Top 20 Cameroon Music Artists/ songs of 2013

Hey guys,
With just 24 hours to 2014, I bring to you the top 20 favorite songs of 2013. I can tell you that bring this list to 20 was not easy at all. I gathered information from my Facebook page, twitter and of course, YouTube views. All the artists in who made and didn't make the list should be very proud of their selves. Just last year, i couldn't have been able to get even 10 good songs for this list but this year i got about 40. What an improvement!!. I am soo proud of the amount of talent we've got in Cameroon. My only hope is that next year should be bigger and better, with lots of new artists, great videos, explosive songs and better and loyal fans. Here are the Top 20 songs of 2013, tell me what you think by leaving a comment. Also vote your favorite artist on the POLL at the top right hand side of the blog. There will be  cash price for the winner. The poll is open till 00:00am (canadian time) which is 6 am (Camer time)  - 31st night. You can vote as many times as possible.

Stanley Enow Speaks Out about His Controversial Bamenda Concert

Hey Guys,
How have you all been? hope everything is moving on well. Well, hope you are not hearing this from the first time but there has been a very very controversial story about Cameroonian Hip hop artist, Stanley Enow. Anyway, Stanley had a concert in Bamenda a couple of weeks ago. During the concert, he took down pictures of Brasseries posters from the walls. saying and I quote " I am a brand, and if I am invited for a show and there is a sponsor, I have to be told. I can't promote a brand without being paid for it". Just so we are clear, I totally 200% agree with and understand what he did. The organizers had to tell him about all the sponsors of the show and pay him accordingly. Anyway, here is the peak of what happened

ON EST HIGH PERE!!!! Stanley Enow's In the house. #HeinPere

Stanley Enow aka Bayangi boy aka HEIN PERE. Is a Cameroonian Afro Rap Artist whose out burst into the music scene has created a revolution, a movement and a massive buzz. In my opinion he is the most talked about Cameroonian artist right now, considering the fact that his record breaking single HEIN PERE was released on July 13, and in just 3 weeks, it  had over 62,500 views, now it has over 150, 000 views and has been the talk of the year.Since the release of his single he has been touring Cameroon performing in Douala, Yaounde etc. He also performed with Flavour ( Nigerian Artist) at two sold out concerts in Douala and Yaounde and to Crown it all he performed at the Cameroonian Match against Libya last week. If this guy doesn't get to international recognition then there is something seriously wrong. I personally can't wait to see him on a stage in Toronto and Montreal ( I need to work towards that). Anyway, I was very honored to be one of the first bloggers to interview him when his song was released 2 months ago. And here is our little tweetinterview. Shout out to all my tweeps and Hein peres and Meres who followed this interview on twitter, the turn out was Hamazing!!!! LMAO. This was the first of my MMPR tweetinterviews and this is how it went down.

ALTF:  Hi Stanley aka Bayangi boy. Neh yee!!. Thanks for accepting to do this interview. it's a pleasure to have you here.

Stanley Enow: Hello mere. Hi to ma peeps from across the globe

  • I am sure everyone wants to know, who Stanley Enow Is?

New Song Release: Hein Pere by Stanley Enow.

Hey guys,
Before I even start giving you giste about this new song, Let me just say how addicted I am to it. As in this song is DOPE to the DOPIEST. lol does that even make sense? Anyway thanks to this song I have found my new Slang - " Sexy Mackerel". Just love it. lmao so if anyone calls me Sexy Mackerel a no go vex. Lmao Stanley Enow go kill me oo. Learn a little about him below.

Attitude – check, stage presence – check, great images – check; Stanley Enow is the new must know name being uttered from every Cameroon urban music lover’s mouth. In such a short space of time, this young rap artist in his 20s signed to his own indie label Motherland Empire; has become synonymous with a new youth order vying for change and recognition within the small scale industry seeking to elevate its status within the African and international milieu. The buzz around him has become so huge so fast so much so that his award hunting debut single “Hein Père” is not only the biggest hip hop track of the moment released since April but is also the only contender for the most memorable and worthy track within the Cameroon music scene this 2013.
